Are You a Drinker? Do you drink too much? Too little?

Drinking is good for you……but not too much. Are you a drinker?  If so, are you drinking too much?  Or are you a sometimes drinker or a seldom drinker, and are you getting enough to drink?  And how much should we really be drinking? I’m a drinker!  I always have a bottle of water…or some coffee and on occasion a diet gingerale or some lemonade beside me so that I can take a sip every so often.  I keep myself well hydrated for the most part.  But then I also lead a minimum 11 fitness classes...

WoW…They’re So GREEEEN!

Ok, confessions time here.  The title of this blog is corny as all get out, and if you are a child of the 80's and you are a James Spader fan then you will know the title of this blog is a terrible reference to one of my very favorite movies from way back when. Tuff Turf.  I mean seriously, whats not to like.  Cool clothes, great music, and a Teen heart throb :)  All of which have absolutely nothing to do with this blog post, but for some reason I could not get it out of my mind....and yea, I am...

Daylight Dragging Time?

It may be called Daylight Savings time, but for many of us it is more of a Nightmare because our bodies so not willingly adjust to it when we roll our clocks forward an hour.  Our bodies circadian rhythm actually follows the sun according to where we live instead of a clock we set.  This can wreak havoc with our bodies.  Especially if we are night owls or average 6 or fewer hours of sleep at night.  So losing an hour of sleep is really a pretty big frikkin deal! Sleep is so damn important to ...

Finding Time for Exercise

Daylight savings time is coming up quick and many of us live in an area where we have to set our clocks an hour earlier!!  I 💜 it.  It means warm weather is soon to be upon us and it will be light outside earlier and I can get my morning walks outside again and not worry about getting run over, instead of getting on the treadmill.   While I love it, many are not pleased with Daylight Savings Time.   They see it as a time when they lose an hour of sleep, and are terribly unhappy about it.  Me, na...

No More Calorie/Macro Obsession

If you have ever been on a diet, many of them want us to count something like calories, or fat grams or how many carbs we eat (macro-nutrients.)  We have to measure or weigh all of our food and spend lots of time trying to get the exact count perfect.  At least this is what I did for a long time.  I am betting you have had experience with it to. Ok, this is super embarrassing for me to admit, but at one time I was unbelievably obsessed with making sure I ate the EXACT amount of calories  or m...

OwnYourShit

The other day I posted a meme with the hashtag #OwnYourShit. I love this phrase. I say it to myself all the time and say a variation of it to others when talking about personal growth. Owning Your Shit is one of the keys to unlocking the door to health and happiness. When I say #OwnYourShit, I mean taking ownership of everything you say and do in your life in ALL areas. You own everything about you. The good, the bad, the pretty and the ugly. Then you have to love and accept yourself as is. An...

Treasures and Trash

It is not even 10 am when I began writing this and it has already been a day filled with treasures!!! I was able to sit outside in shorts to drink my coffee  and journal this morning! In February!! How great is it that it was warm enough to do that in February?!? I also had my first morning neighborhood walk of the year today and it was so freaking wonderful! The reason it was the first one of the year is because I am super sensitive to cold and it is not good for me to be out when temperature...

Don’t limit yourself

We limit ourselves when we adopt specific identities, and then believe that this is truly who we are and must be. H.H. the Karmapa   This quote touches a very sensitive place in me.  So many of us have spent years thinking ourselves to be something we are not just because someone has told us that is how we are or how we are supposed to be and we believed them. Some of us continue to believe these stories we are told because we may not realize that in all actuality we are the onl...

3 Powerful Words

The 3 Most Powerful Words to remember to help you achieve a sustainable healthy lifestyle I was chatting with someone the other day who began their journey towards a healthier life a few months ago.  They are on the verge of giving up for several reasons.  The first reason is impatience.  They want it all right now!  The fat loss, the 6 pack abs and eating all the foods they see everyone eating.  The second reason is that they expect perfection doing something that is difficult ...

Have an Empowering Life

I have been using the #EmpoweringLife hashtag in many of my social media posts for about a year now. I began using after I spent some time reflecting on my past, the way my life was going at that time and what I wanted my future to feel like. Yes, feel like. Not look like. So, what does having an Empowering Life mean? I am sure it means something different to everyone, but to me, empowering life means that I am able to move through life filled with strength, confidence and the knowledge t...
