Half the Woman I used to be….and yet soooo much MORE!

I am half the size I used to be....well actually less than half, and yet I am also sooo much more than I used to be.  In the photo on the left was May of 2012 when I was wearing size 26 shorts...and those shorts were so tight I needed to be in a 28. The photo in the center is when I was at my smallest in Dec of 2014 at a size 6-8.  The photo on the right is me this 2nd week in May 2017 in one leg of the same shorts from the photo on the right.  I am currently comfortably in a size 10.  My size k...

Diets Don’t Work……and the secret to what does

Snagged this image from informhealth.com on a post they did back from 2013 about diets.  This is showing many of the different diets out there....from 2013! There are lots more now!  From The Atkins Diet to The Zone Diet and all those in between.  There are more diets out there than you can shake a stick at.  I am sure you have tried several of them.  Maybe even lost some weight on them.  The book stores have shelves and shelves of different books, the grocery stores have all the different diet ...

Bulky or Not? You decide.

I wanna get bulky!...said no woman ever…..at least not any of the women I know. I wanna get bulky!...said no woman ever…..at least not any of the women I know. What I usually hear when I encourage my clients or friends or family to strength train is more along the lines of “I don’t want to get bulky, I just want to get toned”, or “I want long lean muscles not big fat ones” I even get those who say I don’t want muscles, I just want to lose weight and l...

Thankful Thursday – Mindset Shift

I started doing a Thankful Thursday post a few weeks ago on Facebook  but this week it is a bit more vulnerable and I thought I might actually begin doing my TTs as a Blog Post so that I could go back and reflect on them easier than scrolling through FB. Usually I have soo many things to be thankful for that I usually have a difficult time deciding on what to share.  This week though, I know what I want to share, but the difficult part is actually putting myself out in front of everyone a...

Are You a Drinker? Do you drink too much? Too little?

Drinking is good for you……but not too much. Are you a drinker?  If so, are you drinking too much?  Or are you a sometimes drinker or a seldom drinker, and are you getting enough to drink?  And how much should we really be drinking? I’m a drinker!  I always have a bottle of water…or some coffee and on occasion a diet gingerale or some lemonade beside me so that I can take a sip every so often.  I keep myself well hydrated for the most part.  But then I also lead a minimum 11 fitness classes...

WoW…They’re So GREEEEN!

Ok, confessions time here.  The title of this blog is corny as all get out, and if you are a child of the 80's and you are a James Spader fan then you will know the title of this blog is a terrible reference to one of my very favorite movies from way back when. Tuff Turf.  I mean seriously, whats not to like.  Cool clothes, great music, and a Teen heart throb :)  All of which have absolutely nothing to do with this blog post, but for some reason I could not get it out of my mind....and yea, I am...

Daylight Dragging Time?

It may be called Daylight Savings time, but for many of us it is more of a Nightmare because our bodies so not willingly adjust to it when we roll our clocks forward an hour.  Our bodies circadian rhythm actually follows the sun according to where we live instead of a clock we set.  This can wreak havoc with our bodies.  Especially if we are night owls or average 6 or fewer hours of sleep at night.  So losing an hour of sleep is really a pretty big frikkin deal! Sleep is so damn important to ...

Finding Time for Exercise

Daylight savings time is coming up quick and many of us live in an area where we have to set our clocks an hour earlier!!  I 💜 it.  It means warm weather is soon to be upon us and it will be light outside earlier and I can get my morning walks outside again and not worry about getting run over, instead of getting on the treadmill.   While I love it, many are not pleased with Daylight Savings Time.   They see it as a time when they lose an hour of sleep, and are terribly unhappy about it.  Me, na...

No More Calorie/Macro Obsession

If you have ever been on a diet, many of them want us to count something like calories, or fat grams or how many carbs we eat (macro-nutrients.)  We have to measure or weigh all of our food and spend lots of time trying to get the exact count perfect.  At least this is what I did for a long time.  I am betting you have had experience with it to. Ok, this is super embarrassing for me to admit, but at one time I was unbelievably obsessed with making sure I ate the EXACT amount of calories  or m...

OwnYourShit

The other day I posted a meme with the hashtag #OwnYourShit. I love this phrase. I say it to myself all the time and say a variation of it to others when talking about personal growth. Owning Your Shit is one of the keys to unlocking the door to health and happiness. When I say #OwnYourShit, I mean taking ownership of everything you say and do in your life in ALL areas. You own everything about you. The good, the bad, the pretty and the ugly. Then you have to love and accept yourself as is. An...
